Sassafraz Restaurant in Toronto provides an elegant downtown atmosphere ideal for weddings and individual, corporate and social gatherings. The private Bellair and Cumberland rooms are contemporary and exquisite in design with built in audio-visual. The stunning main dining room is available for exclusive buyouts for up to 150 guests for a sit-down dinner, seven days a week as well as lunch, dinner or cocktail parties. Sassafraz is a landmark experience in Yorkville village.

upstairs area. We hosted the reception on the second floor, then later moved downstairs for the dining/dancing. The amount of room
on both floors was perfect for the number of guests we had. Everything went as smoothly as we could have hoped for. The entire
Sassafraz team made sure that each and every aspect of our wedding was perfectly executed to our specifications.
The reception and dining/dancing area were beautifully staged with Dennette and staff coordinating with all of our vendors in
order to maximize the wow factor.
Each and every one of our guests raved about the settings, food and service. We couldn’t have been happier, and our expectations
were sky high. Sassafraz exceeded all of them, and transformed our special occasion into a spectacular event. We found the cost
to be more than reasonable considering the venue, location, food, service and attention to detail. These guys are pros…and it shows.
To Dennette and the entire team at Sassafraz, thank you so very much for a magical evening! We (and our guests) were blown away!

The venue is already so beautiful that only minor decoration was required; in the dining room, we opted for white tablecloths, greenery garlands with candles. The dining room looked magical. Even though we were well below the dining room’s capacity, the Sassafraz team set up the space, so it still felt full and well-used. Upstairs, a flower arch and a few flower arrangements by the bar were all the decoration that were required. We gladly leveraged much of the signage that Sassafraz provided instead of bringing our own, this included menus, table numbers, cocktail menu, and welcome sign. We were also able to find many great photo spots within the restaurant, with the bonus of being able to take a few pictures in the park across the street with the holiday lights.
The food was also exceptional! Our guests certainly agreed as we got rave reviews all evening and in the following days.
We cannot thank Dennette and the Sassafraz team enough for all their help and guidance in the lead up to our big day and on the night of. Dennette is wonderful; she is exceptionally prompt in responding to questions and comes with great ideas. On the night of, all the staff were exceptional. Everyone went out of their way to ensure we had a landmark night. I appreciate how accommodating the staff was in working with our vendors to make sure everything went smoothly.
Sassafraz, thank you for everything. You will certainly be seeing us again - most definitely for our anniversary but I don't think we'll be able to wait that long!

We decided to opt for a wedding of under 100 people in an intimate setting. We are accustomed to attending weddings at banquet halls but due to all the pressure to provide a flashy wedding, inviting a large amount of people… we were very turned off with the wedding planning process. Sassafraz was like a beacon of light through wedding planning doom.
The staff at Sassafraz were a true highlight, exuding professionalism and courtesy at every turn. The prompt and flawless service they provided was matched only by the exceptional quality of the food. Each dish was a culinary delight, leaving a lasting impression on our guests. Like any bride and groom, we barely had time to eat our meals but the staff went out of their way to make sure we were able to try what we wanted. This included running into the back to get us extra hors d’oeuvres on the wedding day.
What truly set this venue apart was the personalized touch we experienced on our special day. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special and not just “another wedding”. It's the kind of attention to detail and genuine care that transforms a wedding into an unforgettable experience. On the day of our wedding tasting, the bartender came to our table himself and asked us how he could make the drinks on our wedding day even more special to serve our preferences.
I wholeheartedly recommend Sassafraz to anyone seeking a venue where professionalism, exquisite cuisine, and heartfelt hospitality meet.
At first I was skeptical that having an intimate restaurant wedding could match the impression of these huge capitalistic parades that weddings have become, but I am very happy we chose this venue. We got to focus on the important part of a wedding without the distractions, with excellent hospitality. We had the main dining room and I was concerned about the lack of room for a big dancing area but I think it worked perfectly. The day after the wedding guests commented that because there was no lounge/other rooms that guests can escape to it forced everyone to interact in the same setting and had one big party, rather than “cliques” or smaller groups doing their own thing. I enjoyed that aspect very much.
Our wedding day was nothing short of perfection, thanks to the dedicated team at Sassafraz.
