Here’s a wedding that pulls out all the stops, and does so with a sophisticated touch. Sophia and George’s big day at One King West combines classic elegance with dazzling Gatsby-esque chic. The couple, who met on Tinder, knew they found their dream venue the second they saw it. The space is grand, elegant, and over the top which, they say, embodies their personalities. It’s a stunning celebration for a stunning couple. Luckily the talented lens of Olive Photography was on hand to snap each spectacular moment.
The couple shared a sweet and surprised first look before their photo session that was a magical mixture of urban chic and old school glam.
From the Groom: We went out on our first date at this awesome tapas spot in St. Lawrence Market; Barsa Taberna. Sophia and I had a blast that night and dropped the cutlery multiple times (not because I was nervous but because I am naturally clumsy). Since we went on our first date there, we try to go back at least once or twice every year. As I started to plan the engagement proposal, I was advised by some very closely planted spies that she was getting suspicious. Naturally, to throw her off, I had made a decoy-reservation at Barsa Taberna the week before I was going to propose. I told her to get dressed up and to get ready for an awesome night. We had food, we danced but there was no proposal…yet. I had planned Sophia’s real engagement proposal months in advance – I had booked a bike tour in Niagara-on-the-Lake to complete a wine tour for the day. The day went off without a hitch! I popped the question at our first winery (in the vineyard) which happened to be Jackson Triggs. She was totally thrown off because of the prior week’s cruel decoy.
The couple’s reception embodied glamorous grandeur. From the statuesque space of the venue to the metallic palette to the textured tablescapes, everything about this celebration was nothing short of fabulous. Delicate personal details, like the couple’s “#loveatfirstswipe” mementos, along with the delicate pink blooms from All Stars Wedding Favours and Flowers added just the right amount of intimacy and sweetness to the festivities. Speaking of sweetness, the gorgeous cake from Nova Era Bakery was something to behold — and taste. Later, the guests danced to the rousing music from DJ Sole Power.
