Right in the heart of Toronto’s fashion district, The Richmond opened its doors this past Sunday inviting newly engaged couples to drop by, meet with some of its preferred vendors, sample some fantastic eats from a handful of Toronto’s top caterers, and have a great time!
In case you’ve not been, The Richmond offers up a hip, urban, intimate atmosphere that’s ideal for weddings, corporate or social events. The soaring floor to ceiling windows provide plenty of natural light and ambiance for this blank canvas space, offering hosts tons of flexibility for their soiree – from casual and low-key to ultra-extravagant and over the top! The space can accommodate up to 150 for a standing reception, and 75 for a seated dinner. They’re even committed to “going green”, with a focus on minimizing the carbon footprint of the events they host.
Attendees were in for a real treat with the venue’s preferred caterers serving up all sorts of delicious bites and offering some amazing culinary inspiration. It was all perfectly captured by Diego and Liza Photography.
Pinya Letters provided a whole lot of calligraphy inspo for all you brides-to-be out there! From place cards and table numbers, to sweet quotes lining the staircase leading up to the mezzanine level, there was something to see at every turn! Tonic Blooms provided the floral inspirations, with a chic take on greenery in the form of moss, palm leaves and a trailing garland of ruscus. Higgins Event Rentals provided the place settings, wood table and rustic cross-back chairs.
10tation Event Catering was on-site with their Bao Station, giving guests the option of either the Mole Braised Chicken or Thai Braised Pork Shoulder Bao. This was right up my alley – the braised chicken literally melted in your mouth, while the pork shoulder was so tender and delicious!
Toben Food by Design indulged us with their Vietnamese Slaw with fluke sashimi. The fluke was so fresh and buttery, while the slaw added a burst of flavour and texture in my mouth. So good in fact, I had to have seconds! The mini Matcha Green Tea Creme Brulee was a real treat, finishing off so smooth and creamy.
Daniel et Daniel Catering & Events served up two options: a Turkish Lamp Chop with Sumac Dauphine Potato on a bed of Sautéed Greens, and a stuffed Polenta with caramelized Onions and Peppers. Both were simply divine, and the Polenta did not disappoint – any meat-eater would be begging for this vegetarian option!
The next food station was run by Victor Dries Curated Events, and had both a savoury and sweet option. The grilled Octopus was cooked to perfection, the potatoes were crispy and flavourful, and the chimichurri and romesco sauce really elevated the entire dish. They offered three flavours of Macarons – Strawberry Mascarpone, Pistachio and Cranberry – and some even had The Richmond logo emblazoned on them. Cute and delicious!
ProvisionsTO offered us an amazing liquid nitrogen ice cream station. As if making ice cream from scratch using liquid nitrogen couldn’t get any better, they outdid themselves with a huge assortment of amazing toppings to choose from!
Eastbound Brewing Co. offered samples of their delicious craft beer. My personal favourite was the Hidden Lake Hefeweizen, with it’s smooth, citrusy flavour. Reif Estate Winery provided… you guessed it… the wine! This included a few choices of tantalizing red and white wines, along with some bubbly. It made for a great atmosphere to walk around with a glass of sparkling wine in hand!
Evolved Entertainment played tunes throughout the entire event, really adding to the fun, urban vibe this open house had. Big thanks to Kris, Shannon and their team at The Richmond for throwing an open house filled with mouth-watering food, tasty cocktails, trendy decor and all around good times! If you’re looking for a versatile and unique event space for your wedding, social or corporate event, make sure to check out The Richmond!
