You may have wondered what lies behind the striking and intricately carved limestone façade of The Albany Club. Located at King and Church, the expertly modeled, Victorian-era architecture is a historic throwback in a city where new and generic skyscrapers and condos seem to be popping up just about everywhere. Despite the venue being surrounded by many of the city’s most iconic and bustling landmarks – St Lawrence Market, St James Cathedral, and steps from the Financial District – the venue nonetheless feels exclusive, charming, and historically-rich.
Upon entering the space, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the historic building and the elegant presence that permeated throughout. The space is opulent, classical, and filled with tons of character. Textured walls, decorative trim, vibrant earth tones, stained glass windows, carved ceilings, and elaborate woodwork offer both warmth and style. The staff greeted me warmly and guided me through the its various event spaces. We’ve got loads of stunning photos all captured by award winning photographer Diego Moura Photography.
Touring the space, I absolutely love the Main Dining Room’s soaring ceilings, stained-glass windows, original oak wainscoting, and balcony. The focal wall of the room was dressed with stunning floor to ceiling draping by Designs by Dina. Complimenting the draping was an assortment of linen provided by Susan Murray International. provided handcrafted florals perfectly honouring the venue’s traditional architectural design and aesthetic while still adding a modern touch.

The venue offers four floors of event space. Interestingly, despite being built in the late 1800s, I was delighted to see that the venue is fully accessible by elevator. The dynamic duo and Toronto staple Brent Miller LIVE had everyone boppin’ away in the Sir John A Room. This room offers a classical style with its built-in marble bar and historic library space. The space was given a modern touch with colourful but non-intrusive lighting by archie's a/v, demonstrating that audio and visual elements can transform a space and should never be overlooked.
Always a crowd-pleaser, ‘ 360 interactive and rotational photo booth kept guests entertained while touring the space.
Of course, the evening is not complete without sampling renowned Chef Jay Parhar’s delectable cuisine.
