FROM THE BRIDE: The evil eyes [guest favours] were a special touch to the Derya’s Turkish heritage. He came to Toronto from Turkey by himself for his undergraduate program. Since none of his family live in Toronto, we wanted to incorporate some Turkish touches into the wedding. It also signifies protection from negative, or evil thoughts from onlookers. We wanted to share the protection with our guests that we’ve been so lucky to experience for our entire relationship.
