The The Pop-Up Chapel Co. transformed Steam Whistle Brewery in downtown Toronto into a vibrant and romantic haven for lovebirds. This unique event saw five distinct couples tying the knot amidst an atmosphere of joy, creativity, and heartfelt moments, all while supporting a noble cause. In partnership with The Alzheimer Society, the event was not just a celebration of love but also a fundraiser. Throughout the day, over $800 was raised, supporting the vital work of the charity and highlighting the community spirit that underpinned the entire event.

Documenting this special day were Lisa Kwan Images, Frances Rose West, and Alicia Thurston Photography. Each photographer brought their unique artistic perspective, capturing the essence of the ceremonies and the details that made them extraordinary. The iconic backdrop of downtown Toronto, with its historic trains and the towering CN Tower, provided a stunning setting for couples’ portraits, blending urban charm with romantic moments.

Live music by the Toronto Jazz Collective filled the air with emotive melodies, setting the perfect backdrop for the ceremonies. Their acoustic guitar and vocal performances added a layer of sophistication and emotion, resonating deeply with the couples and their guests. Juliana Klein from Celebrate the Love officiated all the ceremonies with grace, ensuring each couple felt cherished and celebrated. Her presence added warmth and sincerity to the proceedings, making every vow exchange memorable.

The heavy industrial ambiance of Steam Whistle Brewery was beautifully balanced by the playful and bright décor. The signature The Pop-Up Chapel Co. backdrop, adorned with handmade glitzy cherries and oversized bows, created a perfect focal point for the ceremonies. The addition of a kitschy Kissing Booth, where guests could don funky heart-shaped glasses and take photos under a pink neon sign, added a fun and whimsical touch. In addition, real cherries and Hershey’s kisses were sprinkled throughout the décor, inviting guests to indulge in sweet treats from heart-shaped baskets placed on cruiser tables and at the bar.

Guests were treated to gourmet popcorn from Purplesful Snacking at the scoop-your-own-popcorn station. This playful element, along with take-away bags, added a fun twist to the refreshment offerings. Gruvi non-alcoholic beverages, Shiny Apple Ciders, FRESH Wines, and classic Steam Whistle Pilsners ensured there was a drink for every taste, keeping everyone refreshed and in high spirits. Courage Cookies, part of the light bites and snacks, were a hit, satisfying sweet cravings and adding to the festive atmosphere.

The visual feast continued with intricate buttercream floral cupcakes crafted by Olivia Yang Cake Studio. In shades of magenta and pink, these delightful treats echoed the whimsical poppy stems arranged in modern silhouette bud vases by The Pop-Up Chapel Co. team. Each couple had a say in their floral designs, ensuring that the bouquets and boutonnieres, provided by May Flowers, reflected their personal tastes. The result was a collection of lively and elegant floral arrangements that added a soft touch of beauty to the day.

The The Pop-Up Chapel Co. is committed to sustainability, creating eco-friendly designs by upcycling materials, repurposing old wedding décor, and thrifting unique pieces. This dedication to the environment was evident in every detail of the Cherry Bomb theme, one of the company’s most popular designs from last year. Looking ahead, The The Pop-Up Chapel Co. is excited to introduce Co.Wed Chapel in 2024. This new shared wedding experience offers couples the opportunity to select their wedding décor from one of four pre-conceived options, including the beloved Cherry Bomb theme. Co.Wed maintains the simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability of traditional Pop-Up Chapels but with some exciting new features.

Unlike the typical shared wedding concept where up to 10 couples share a day, Co.Wed limits the number to just two couples per date, each enjoying a private time slot. This allows for a more intimate experience, with one wedding in the morning and one in the evening. Co.Wed also accommodates more guests, allowing couples to invite 50-75 of their loved ones. With an open bar and charcuterie boards included, guests can enjoy a delightful culinary experience. The extended time slots, four times longer than regular Chapel spots, provide ample opportunity for personalization and customization of ceremonies. Couples can incorporate religious elements, cultural traditions, rituals, or additional wedding party members, making their vows truly unique. Couples will also benefit from early contact with their officiant, ensuring that ceremony customizations go smoothly and that the relationship with the officiant is built early on.
